Cree releases record-breaking 102 lm/W LED luminaires

High-tech LED network compiled November 3 news, Cree demonstrated an A-19 LED bulb, output 969 lumens of luminous flux at 102 lm / W efficiency. At the annual general meeting of shareholders at the end of October, Cree's president and CEO Chuck Swoboda demonstrated the LED bulb.

According to Cree, this is the industry's highest efficiency and lumens bulb. The light output is equivalent to a 65W incandescent lamp, but this LED bulb is only 9.5W.

The A-19 series of lamps demonstrated this time use Cree's latest XLamp® XP-G LED source and TrueWhite technology. TrueWhite is Cree's patented technology that delivers warm white light with high color rendering index and efficiency.

The bulb emits 2800K of warm white light with a color rendering index of 91. All third-party test results indicate that the product is operating properly under rated conditions.

“We are promoting new industries by launching new products,” Swoboda said. “By improving the performance of all the parameters of LEDs, some new applications have become possible. We are excited to show the world not only what we can do. But 'what kind of light bulb do they want?'"

Philips recently became the first company to apply for the L Prize to the US government, who submitted an LED fixture. The L Prize is required to replace 60W incandescent lamps with a lumen count of over 900, an energy consumption of less than 10W, an efficiency of more than 90 lm/W, a CRI of over 90, and a color temperature between 2700 and 3000K. Philips luminaires are being evaluated.

It is unclear whether Cree will mass produce this LED fixture in the future, or sell the technology to lighting companies such as GE because the company has a wide range of sales channels. (Compile / Zeng Cong)
