Recently, AU Optronics filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Sharp Corporation of Japan and its US subsidiary in a US court, demanding that Sharp compensate economic losses and stop infringement. In its complaint, AU Optronics claimed that Sharp infringed at least the following patents: US Patent Nos. 6,818,967, 7,057,359, 7,125,157, 7,259,526, 7,317,289, and 7,172,331. In the US District Court for the Central District of California, AUO claimed that Sharp infringed at least the following patents: US Patent Nos. 7,771,098, 7,723,728 and 7,101,073. Earlier, Sharp filed a lawsuit in the United States, accusing AUO of infringing its LCD patent. He also said that the LCD patent license contract reached by the two parties in 2006 expired on December 31, 2010, but did not reach an agreement on the new contract renewal clause, so he decided to resort to the law.
