Jiang Jialiang pointed out that commercial lighting has been almost the same as traditional lighting costs, and the advantages of ON Semiconductor's high-efficiency LED driving solutions in terms of power factor can help commercial lighting achieve better energy-saving effects.

The high efficiency of the LED driver circuit is not limited to the driver IC, but also requires an overall design match, for example, selecting a suitable transformer and power device, etc., in order to achieve high energy efficiency as a whole.

At present, in addition to driver ICs, ON Semiconductor also provides users with energy-efficient LED driver products.

The NCL30051 is such an energy-efficient LED driver solution for applications such as exterior wall lights, street lights, outdoor area lighting, low ceiling lights and high ceiling lights. This driver combines a power factor correction (PFC) and half-bridge resonant controller with all the features needed to design an energy-efficient drive with a small form factor.

At the same time, the built-in half-bridge driver with 600V high-side gate drive capability, no need to configure additional level shifters or transformers; resonant controller with fixed frequency and soft-hopping period characteristics, improve light load energy efficiency and reduce EMI; PFC with constant on-time control And error amplifiers provide excellent power factor.

At present, the application of LED is mainly in the alternative market, especially for the application of bulb modification, the compatibility with traditional lamps is very important. At present, ON Semiconductor's NCL30000 and products are compatible with TRIAC dimming. The latest NCL3008x series drivers can be used for different topological results such as isolated flyback or non-isolated constant current, and work in quasi-resonant mode to improve energy efficiency.

Thanks to the novel control method, this driver improves the constant current accuracy of the secondary side LED current. In addition, the driver uses Long Letter's Step Dimming technology to simplify the design of TRIAC dimming circuits.

In addition, the quasi-resonance technology used by ON Semiconductor can better reduce EMI.

Quasi-resonant technology, also known as quasi-square-wave resonance, is characterized by a MOSFET that conducts when the drain-to-source voltage (VDS) reaches its lowest value, thereby reducing switching losses and improving EMI signals. Electrical isolation is primarily intended to meet safety requirements.

At present, the cost of isolated and non-isolated topologies is very close, depending on the voltage of the LEDs.

In general, the isolation topology is suitable for low voltage lamps (3.7V to 10V), while the non-isolated topology is more suitable for high voltage lamps (20V to 50V).
