The dimmable NCL30386 and the non-dimmable NCL30388 provide a market-leading choice for designers of LED lighting equipment such as lamps for office and industrial buildings. Both devices are high power factor (PF), single-segment, constant current (CC) and constant voltage (CV) for flyback, buck-boost or single-ended primary inductor converter (SEPIC) power supply topologies. It further simplifies the design of LED lighting applications by including safety features such as undervoltage and overvoltage protection, as well as detecting short circuits in outputs, windings and diodes. NCL30386 and NCL30388 eliminate the need for many external components to complete the design, reducing time-to-market, reducing bill of materials (BoM) costs, and reducing the space required to achieve a complete lighting solution. In addition, the NCL30386 offers excellent dimming capabilities, including linear or quadratic dimming curve options. The wide analog dimming range is controlled by two dedicated analog/PWM control pins that enable precise dimming with a minimum dimming ratio of 0.5% and no audible noise.
