Nikkei News reported that Sharp plans to abandon its personal computer business because the independent product line is difficult to bring profits.
Sharp will shift its focus to the GALAPAGOS e-book marketed in December and provide e-books, music and video services.
Sharp's foothold in the PC business also attributed its industry-leading exclusive LCD, chip and other field technologies. They also introduced the world's smallest and lightest notebook computer with hard disks and floppy disks in the 1990s.
Just last year, Sharp also introduced a hand-written laptop, but has not released any new products since then, and stopped PC production at the end of last year.
